Mediation and dispute resolution is a rewarding career that allows you to help people resolve conflicts and find relief from stress and anger. As a mediator you gain a wide range of skills that you can use in both your professional and personal lives. Mediation offers many areas of specialization including family, civil, and eldercare to name a few.
While there are no specific training requirements to become a mediator in the State of Montana, to be certified by MTMA you are required to take a 40 hour Basic Mediation Course that includes observation and co-mediation. For those interested in being certified in Family or Eldercare Mediation, MTMA requires the applicant to be a MTMA Certified Mediator and complete a 24 hour course in the relevant area that includes observation and co-mediation. There are many organizations that offer these trainings. See our calendar to find training that works for you.
